Steven E. Jones Jr., following in the footsteps of the storytelling men in his family, has taken on the role of bringing the Jones legend to life. Encouraging his father to record his grandfather's stories of Blue Eagle, the junior Steven E. Jones has brought bright and fun characters, such as Pete Rabbit and Sammy Squirrel, to life with wonderful illustrations inspired by his childhood memories of the Texas Hill Country. " I recall fondly many childhood nights sitting in our beds listening to my grandfather craft his tales of Blue Eagle and his adventures in Peaceful Valley." says Jones, " As we'd walk through the woods around our house, he would point out a rabbit and say, 'There goes Pete!' Every animal we saw would find its way into his stories that evening or he would name them on the fly as we saw them." When Steven approached the design of the book, he noticed that the majority of today's children's books lacked the creative imagination that was present in classic children's books. Steven found inspiration from great illustrators like Peter Spier and Maurice Sendak, and created a unique and original design for The Ballad of Blue Eagle using watercolors. Steven spent his childhood summers in the Texas Hill Country. He later studied and lived abroad for over two years in Madrid, Spain and has traveled extensively throughout Europe. He enjoys offshore fishing and diving, The University of Texas football, and holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tukong Moosul. He currently resides in Austin, Texas and is a graphic designer/art director. |

Then, in 2004, Steve teamed up with his own illustrator son, Steven E. Jones, Jr., to tell the children's story called, The Ballad of Blue Eagle. Steve Jones currently lives in Houston, Texas and has a vacation home in Kerrville, Texas, is the Vice President of Brokerage at The Harry Jones Company, a commercial real estate firm owned by his brother. Once upon a time, a young Steve Jones was captivated by stories that were passed down to him from his father about Blue Eagle. Magnificent and regal, this mighty bird safeguarded the animals of Peaceful Valley by keeping a keen eye on the happenings below. The morals and virtues that Mr. Jones was taught stayed with him as he grew up, and he later continued the Blue Eagle tradition by imparting the stories of Peaceful Valley to his children and grandchildren. Illustrated by his son, Steven Jones, Jr., The Ballad of Blue Eagle is a tribute to the elder Jones men and has been a compilation of stories and values that has brought generations of the Jones family together. The Ballad of Blue Eagle is a brilliantly illustrated children's book that reminds children to pay attention, slow down and enjoy life. Through delightful characters such as Sammy the Squirrel, Arny Armadillo, Pete Rabbit, and of course, Blue Eagle, Mr. Jones' rhythm and rhyme guide the reader through suspense and danger and eventually the ending. As Clugar the carnivorous Cougar imposes upon the serenity of Peaceful Valley looking for his next meal, the animal community goes into a frenzy until Blue Eagle swoops in, teaching a lesson and saving a friend. This book is ideal for families with young children as it is great fun to read aloud and an outstanding aid in expanding reading skills. It has adventure, suspense, humor, and teaches valuable lessons about life. Within the book readers can find: - Colorful illustrations to capture the attention of children
- Positive life lessons for every age
- How diverse characters can work together
- Discussion of brains versus brawn
